Deadline for submission of nominations: 1‘I November 2016RESPONSABILITY (process and functions undertaken to achieve results)Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Sub Office in Meiganga, the incumbent will beassumed of the following functions:Stay alert of political, social, economic and cultural developments which mayhave an impact on the protection operating environment.
Support UNHCR’S consultative process with local government counterparts,partners and persons of concern for effective needs and risk assessment andplanning, including for the preparation of the AOR's protection strategy.Support the implementation, reporting and evaluation of the AOR's protectionstrategy and the delivery of its operational components.
Facilitate and monitor UNHCR’s responses in addressing Sexual and GenderBased Violence (SGBV) priorities and other specific protection needs ofwomen and men, children, youth and older persons, persons with disabilities,minority groups such as sexual minorities and persons living with HIV/AIDS.Support the implementation of Best Interest Determination Procedures.Maintain protection presence and promote confidence building throughregular field missions and reports, making direct contact with persons ofconcern, host communities, local authorities and partners.
Contribute in developing and implementing an education plan for the AOR aspart of the protection strategy.
Provide advice and guidance on protection issues to internal and local externalinterlocutors; facilitate access to legal assistance for persons of concern andthe issuance of personal documents by local authorities.
0 Monitor and control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all protectionactivities.
- Facilitate the identification of resettlement needs through monitoring, analysisand contact with populations of concern.
0 Facilitate effective systematization and management of data to enhancemonitoring, response and evaluation mechanisms.
0 Assist in developing and implementing UNHCR’s communication strategy togenerate support from local counterparts.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES0 Completion of post-secondary school. Certificate/ training in InternationalLaw, Political Science or related field is required.Previous job experience: 6 years.Job experience relevant to the function: 6 years.Fluency in English and/or French and working knowledge of another relevantUN language or local language.
DESIRABLE QUALIfiCATIONS & COMPETENCIES0 Good computer skills.I Completed Protection Learning Programme.
ELIGIBILITYThe internal candidates are the members of the staff of general services currently in service, whohave been appointed by the AC and have an appointment of indefinite duration or determined.Interested staff members should consult the Policy and procedures of the UNHCR on theassignments of the locally recruited staff (PPAL).
