RECRUITMENT NOTICE (02) PSYCHIATRIC NURSE

Job Title:     Psychiatric Nurse (2 positions)

Reports to:     Hierarchical: Mental Health Activity Manager
Supervises:     NIL
Duty station     Kumba
Type of contract     Fixed Term
Duration     of employment contract:      Till September 2022
 
 Main objective and tasks     •    Conducts intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history;
•    Plans and provides nursing care for patients;
•    Makes nursing diagnosis of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommends treatment options;
•    Consults with psychiatrists and mental health activity manager in designing appropriate treatment • Plans for clients;
•    Administers and notes reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications;
•    Arranges further medical attention when necessary;
•    Assists the client in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and accepting the need for treatment;
•    Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staffs and patients;
•    Test for vital signs of pain and ensures treatments of pain.
•    Documents all patient information on medical charts and follows physician’s written orders.
•    Maintains patient confidentiality;
•    Maintains accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, immunizations and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping;
•    Performs administrative assignments such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing;

     •    Provide care to our patients and support to their families;
•    Monitor patient progress and document changes to behavior or health
Educational and professional experience required      
•    University degree / Institute in psychiatry Nursing or Mental Health nursing or Equivalent
•    Minimum 2 years relevant work experience including at least one year in NGO
Technical     and behavioral competencies required     •    Computer literacy (Word, Excel, outlook)
•    Adaptability and readiness to carry out numerous field trips
•    Analytical and reporting skills
•    Respect and adherence to protection principles
•    Capacity to work under pressure, flexibility
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable competencies and qualifications

Languages     •    English and Pidgin
•    Knowledge of French (written and spoken) is an asset
