Job Purpose:


Incumbent is expected to develop, manage, grow and acquire a portfolio of large clients in Douala and surrounding areas, manage these relationships in a profitable and sustainable manner for the long term. S/he should position the Bank with current and prospective TTLC names and build an executable pipeline of deals with these clients through identification and origination of bankable transactions with corporates in identified industries in our PRMP and ensuring that they are approved and executed within customer deadlines.  S/he should achieve our zero MIFT objectives through successful selling of EB based and electronic cash collections and disbursements solutions to clients in the portfolio and develop a liabilities strategy attractive for non-borrowing portfolio and client acquisitions. S/he will be managing the Banking MCA to ensure all issues are surfaced and closed and the compliance process of all customers on the portfolio within Citi Compliance procedures.

 

Job Background/context:


The Cameroon business is credit intensive, which requires enhanced due diligence given lack of obligor information from public sources.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The role would typically involve:

 

Portfolio Management: 
Develop, execute and manage the deal pipeline for allocated portfolio. Acquisition of new business through aggressive marketing and credit process roll out. Cross functional liaison and co-ordination with other product units (FICC, GTS, Corporate Finance, Project Finance) etc. to relationship management and structuring solutions to our customers. Responsible for directly meeting the franchise revenue targets.

Strategic Cost Management: 
To promote and a create culture of managing expenses with keeping EBIT growth in mind.  Follow a strong culture of Spend-Smart relating to marketing efforts in the Unit.  This pertains to customer calls, telecommunications, customer events, etc.  Also the need to sensitize the effect of the marketing efforts into top/bottom line impact on the Unit. Manage Corporate Bank and EMLF expenses with a continued focus on expenses reduction.

Risk Management: 
To put in place an enabling environment that supports the risk management processes which provide an overall support within the Unit (including Credit Appraisals, ongoing monitoring and due diligence et al) and to other corporate bank units, Markets, TTS, Compliance, O&T and other product partners and supporting units. Ensure the credit quality of the portfolio under supervision. Control and manage the risk of portfolio by setting sound industry specific targets and specific criteria and by approving individual cases

Controls and Compliance: 
Ensure respect of all legal, compliance and audit rules and regulations. Promote, sensitize and provide guidance on maintaining highest standards of controls and compliance affecting the unit.  To also ensure that the overall success of the Credits in terms of MCA, FCR and ongoing reviews and audit through IA & Franchise Risk Assessment.  In addition, to ensure that the client portfolio is in line with the expectation of Citi’s AML and KYC policies within the team. Managing the Corporate Bank P/L to achieve the EBIT targets. Ensure a rating of Satisfactory in the audits

•Customer satisfaction: 
Ensure consistent customer satisfaction through regular calling and feedback to the senior management, GTS, FICC and O &T; Enhancing customer loyalty to ensure retention of client; Responsible for product development, service delivery and business development including maintaining customer relationship to sell the full range of products to defined target market customers.

Collaboration: 
Working actively with Cash Management Trade Product Sales Managers; Contribute to overall branch strategies/planning

•Gaining market shares in a very competitive market in terms of customers and competitors sophistication
•Managing relations with Citi Seniors, PAM’s, SCO, etc.
•Book structured deals (Corporate Finance, derivatives, and sell innovative products in a basic market).
•Gaining market shares in a very competitive market in terms of customers and competitors sophistication
•Ability to quickly master innovative Banking solutions, not well known in this primary Market.
•Maximize all new and existing revenues (through active collaboration with products) while minimizing Citibank exposure to all Credit and Compliance risk for High Risk products.
•Manage large customer base (CB –TTLC), and develop the relevant skills to analyze credits for corporate customers. Develop good research skills to be enable you follow up large products areas, Treasury, off shore products (XB), Cash Management and Trade.


 

 

Qualifications
 

Knowledge/Experience:


Minimum five years’ responsible experience in corporate banking. with 
Knowledge of:


•Good understanding of  Corporate finance and derivative products
•Good understanding of Corporate and Investment Banking products (loans, cash management, trade, treasury)
•Solid knowledge of local environment, transactional banking, legal documentation and general banking.
•Proven existing customer relationship, proven track record of senior relationship
•In-depth understanding of issues relating to compliance, knowledge of domestic and global regulatory requirements


Skills:


•Strong credit  skills
•High level MS skills, especially Excel & PowerPoint
•Strong numeracy skills
•Excellent English communication skills (written/spoken)
•Ability to interact/communicate effectively with both internal and external clients
•Foundation understanding of TTS and standard Treasury products


Competencies:


•Good understanding of  Corporate finance and derivative products
•Good understanding of Corporate and Investment Banking products (loans, cash management, trade, treasury)
•Proven existing customer relationship, proven track record of senior relationship
•In-depth understanding of issues relating to compliance, knowledge of domestic and global regulatory requirements
•Strong leadership and people management skills.
•Strong team player, given cross functional role
