II. Background and Organizational Context
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is a department of the United Nations Secretariat. Its mission is to mobilize and coordinate humanitarian action in an effective, coherent and principled manner, in partnership with national and international actors, to alleviate human suffering, advocate for the rights of populations in need, and promote disaster preparedness and prevention.
The Administration is a focal point for the implementation of humanitarian response coordination activities. To meet the increased needs for procurement of goods and services, logistics support, and travel and personnel management, the Driver will be part of the Administration Unit and will assist in providing logistical support to the activities of the Office to facilitate an efficient and effective humanitarian response.
III. Position Purpose
Under the supervision of the Head of Administration of OCHA Cameroun and the direct supervision of the National Administrative and Financial Officer, the Driver is responsible for performing the following main tasks

Under the supervision of the Head of Administration of OCHA Cameroun and the direct supervision of the National Administrative and Financial Officer, the Driver is responsible for performing the following main tasks
1) Logistical support to the Office activities
- Provide secure transportation for staff, visitors and office property
- Greeting official staff and visitors at the airport, arranging for visa and customs formalities as required
- Carrying out the distribution and collection of mail, documents and material of the Office
- Ensure the completion of security requests prior to any mission departure.
- Ensure that the formalities provided for in the regulations are fulfilled in the event of an accident
- Assist with event preparation; make copies of documents, assemble work packages and supplies, assist with registration of participants etc.
2) Ensure the daily technical condition of the vehicle and its communication equipment
- Ensure the daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle: Check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, availability of necessary tools (wheel wrench, jack, etc.), first aid kit, etc.
- Report to the supervisor any minor or major repairs that need to be done.
- Maintain the vehicle logbook on a daily basis; record mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, lubrications, and submit them for daily signature of the administrative assistant, then weekly to the Supervisor.
3) Ensures all required documents/supplies are available
- Verification of vehicle insurance, vehicle records,
- office directory, city/country map,
- first aid kit,
- required spare parts.
4) Ensures cost savings, regulatory compliance and proper use of vehicles and equipment
- Ensure availability of all required documents/supplies: insurance, logbook, first aid kit, etc.
- Proper use of vehicles by maintaining daily vehicle logs and assisting in the development of vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
- Performs any other duties required by the organization within the scope of his/her skills and abilities as requested by the supervisor.
V. Requirements:
Education
-High school diploma or equivalent with a valid driver's license
Or
Minimum of 2 years (with high school diploma) of relevant work experience as a driver with safe driving
Ability to use web-based electronic log and management, file and/or scheduling systems.
Certification in automotive mechanics would be an asset.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- Have a valid B driver's license (Cameroonian or international);
- Have a minimum of 02 years of relevant work experience as a driver in a recognized company or organization;
- Have mastery of the French and/or English language and a very good knowledge of the other language
- Knowledge of the main local languages of the central region would be an asset
- Ability to perform minor car repairs;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) would be an asset;
- Knowledge of rules related to the use of vehicles in the field (safety, regular communication with the base and use of VHF, HF radios, etc.)
- Experience in an international organization, in the United Nations System or an international NGO would be an asset.
