For our Country Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Landscape Advisor.

Duration: Two (02) years
The mission of the department
In pursuit of her vision of a future with healthy ecosystems and thriving biodiversity supporting people
and driving sustainable development in Cameroon, WWF Cameroon (WWF CCO) went into partnership
with the Programme for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources – South West Region
(PSMNR-SWR). The partnership is currently in its fifth phase, covering the period 15 September 2023 to
December 2025. The goal of the Programme is to contribute towards the preservation of high-value
ecosystems in South-West Region, thereby contributing to improved livelihoods of the surrounding
communities in a sustainable manner. The purpose is sustainable forest and wildlife management by
affected stakeholders for their benefit, with special emphasis on the poorer segments of the local
populations.
Broadly, PSMNR-SWR Phase V has been set up to achieve the following:
 Consolidate and build on the achievements and lessons from the collaborative management of
protected areas (PA) initiated in the previous phases.
 Manage the UNESCO MAB transboundary biosphere reserves in the Korup-Oban and TakamandaOkwango areas.
 Set up sustainable financing mechanisms, with accent on locally negotiated land-use plans along
the wildlife corridors and PA peripheral zones serving as reference for land-based Payment for
Ecosystem Services.
Major Functions
 Support WWF Coastal Forests Program Manager in conceptualization, planning, implementation,
reporting and monitoring of WWF interventions in the framework of PSMNR;
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is looking for a Landscape Advisor Lead the consolidation and capitalization of the achievements and lessons of the collaborative PA
management approach;
 Pro-actively support the design and implementation of the landscape approach and management
of the Korup-Oban Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, and the set-up of land-based Payment for
Ecosystem Services;
 In close cooperation with the WWF CCO Coastal Forests Program (CFP) Manager, work with
Regional authorities, conservation partners and projects in the SWR to maintain the biodiversity of
the Region and contribute to poverty alleviation;
 Support the Korup-Ndongere ToU and oversee the works of the Mount Cameroon, BakossiBanyang-Mbo, and Korup-Ndongere Landscape Officers, and
 Advise the WWF Coastal Forests Program Manager on pertinent issues in the South West Region
and provide essential input for the PSMNR supervision, review and evaluation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
 Contribute to the management of larger conservation areas;
 Contribute to the mitigation of land-use conflict around PAs;
 Support the participatory corridor management of important wildlife corridors;
 Support integrated management of the PA network and transboundary collaboration;
 Support the institutionalization of the collaborative PA management approach and its integration
into legal planning processes (PA management plans, Council Development Plans, Land-use Plans/;
 Contribute to capacity building of stakeholders in the co-management process;
 Support the implementation of cluster specific collaborative management activities;
 Contribute to the conservation education approach of PSMNR
 Contribute to the hunter engagement in the implementation of targeted intervention for the
benefit of communities and groups who have a strong impact on the PAs (output 3.5);
 Contribute to the cooperative/enterprise development for farm and forest producers;
 Support the sustainable management of NTFPs by local communities inside PAs;
 Support the identification and mitigation of human wildlife conflicts;
 Contribute to PA staff capacity building;
 Develop key research projects to address priority issues for key wildlife and habitat conservation;
 Support the elaboration/revision of PA and landscape management plans;
 Support the development of SFM for PAs and landscape management;
 Advocate for and set-up a complaint mechanism to address community wide concerns within the
PSMNR;
 Advocate for and conduct risk/conflict analysis around vulnerable communities and those of
power, in particular eco-guards and implement mitigation measures within the PSMNR;
 Contribute to the joint use and maintenance of the WWF and PSMNR-SWR Geographical
Information System (GIS);
 Contribute to the WWF and PSMNR communication by providing articles for publication;
 Develop monthly, semester and annual work plans and budgets for approval by the PSMNR-SWR;
 Monitor and report at agreed frequencies and formats the activities in the approved work plans;
 Prepare required technical progress reports, using standard WWF reporting format;
 Verify requests for funds to facilitate disbursements;
 Develop ToRs for service providers or consultants or Local Support Organizations (LSO) to assist
with implementation of approved activities, and prepare requisitions for the purchase of PSMNR
equipment as agreed upon in work plans and budgets.Profile:
Required Qualifications:
 Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or in one or more of the following domains: forestry and wildlife,
natural resource management, environment, rural geography, or any related specialization;
 Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the areas of wildlife and protected area
management or sustainable management of natural resources.
Required Skills and Competencies:
 Strong technical skills in wildlife and protected areas management;
 Strong bio/socioeconomic monitoring skills;
 Good overview of legal and institutional framework in the area of forest and wildlife resources
management in Cameroon;
 Strong technical, communication and organizational skills;
 Ability to work and interact with people of different backgrounds;
 Good team member and familiarity with the functioning of local and international organizations;
 Computer literate, and good knowledge of data analysis and GIS;
 Fluency in English and familiarity with French.

The Landscape Advisor will work closely with the CFP Program Manager, the Landscape Management
Coordinator, the country team and relevant WWF network staff.
 External
Within the PSMNR-SWR set-up, the Landscape Advisor is the direct counterpart of the Heads of the
Collaborative Management and TOU Management Units at the regional level. In the field the LA will work
closely with the Head of the co-management unit (CMU), the community Development Officer (CDO) and
Local Support Organizations (LSO) in the animation of the co-management intervention
