The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is recruiting a Consultant, Project
Owner for the rehabilitation of the floor of three (03) huts in Campo Ma'an National Park

Want to make a positive difference to the future of people and our one shared home the
Earth? Working with WWF could be the opportunity of a lifetime:
All around the world, people are waking up to the deepening crisis of nature loss. A growing
realization that nature is our life-support system. Nobody will be spared from the impacts of its
loss. Here at WWF, we are helping to tackle this enormous global challenge.
Our people come from hugely diverse backgrounds and with a variety of expertise, ranging
from HR and finance to advocacy and conservation science. We welcome applications from
anyone who believes they can help us create a better future for people and wildlife.
What we do:
We are an independent conservation organization, striving to sustain the natural world for the
benefit of people and wildlife. From individuals and communities to businesses and
government, we are part of a growing coalition calling on world leaders to set nature on the
path to recovery by 2030. Together, we seek to protect and restore natural habitats, stop the
mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainably.
We are looking for a Consultant, Project Owner for the rehabilitation of the floor of three (03)
huts in Campo Ma'an National Park.
1. Context and justification
The Campo-Ma'an National Park (PNCM) covers an area of 264,064 ha and was created by
decree no. 2000/004/PM of 06 January 2000. It is an integral part of the first category Technical
Operational Unit (UTO). Campo-Ma'an UTO is located in South Cameroon Region, straddling
the Ocean and Ntem Valley Departments, and covers an area of 771,668 ha, or approximately
16.3% of the Region's total surface area. The park is home to a number of exceptional natural
and cultural values, which militated in favor of its classification (MINFOF, 2014). Campo Ma'an
UTO is home to 1,500 plants (45 of which are endemic), 390 invertebrates, 249 fish, 122
reptiles, 302 bird species and 80 mammal species. A study (Beukou et al., 2020) shows that
there are 243 [188-314] elephants (Loxodonta africana cyclotis) and 881 [643-1205] great apes
(Gorilla gorilla gorilla and Pan troglodytes troglodytes). To promote this biological wealth, the
World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), through Kudu Zombo Programme, launched a gorilla
habituation project on the island of Dipikar in Campo Ma'an National Park in 2010. This activity
is a pilot project in Cameroon's protected areas for the development and management of
ecotourism. The implementation of the contact phase, which began in 2015, has developed
very satisfactorily over time, resulting in a special ecotourism product. The results are marked
by the gorilla group's acceptance of human presence at a distance of 7-10 m; indeed, progress
has been made at the level of curiosity and tolerance, which currently stands at 87%. These
results are fruit of constant monitoring by teams of trackers, veterinarians and conservation

.biologists who spend most of their time in the forest. However, camps used as living quarters
for these staffs are not suitable for their development during their stay in the forest. To provide
a solution to this problem, the WWF Kudu Zombo programme will rehabilitate the floor of three
(03) huts in the main gorilla habituation camp in Campo Ma'an National Park on Dipikar Island.
2. Objective
The purpose of this call for tenders is to select a project owner for the rehabilitation of the floor
of three (03) huts in the main gorilla habituation camp on stilts in Campo Ma'an National Park
on Dipikar island, which is also a gorilla habituation site.
3. Methodology
The floor will be rehabilitated for the three huts in the main camp in Campo Ma'an National
Park in South Region, Ocean Department, Campo district.
The rehabilitation work will include:
o Two boxes to rehabilitate the defective floor on stilts:
- Length 8 metres
- Width 4.5 metres
- Replace the foundations initially made of wooden slabs with reinforced concrete
o A square hut to rehabilitate the defective floor on stilts
- Dimensions 4 metres square
o Replace the foundations initially made of wooden slabs with reinforced concrete
The pilings must be cast in concrete, and the planks must be treated to prevent weevil attack
and damp.
4. Information about the building site
To get to the construction site, which is located on the island of Dipipar in Campo Ma'an
National Park, you first have to go to Kribi, then take the road to Campo via the autonomous
port of Kribi. The distance between Campo and Kribi is 75 kilometres, including 30 kilometres
of tarmac road.
Once in Campo, go to Campo Beach (4 kilometres) on the Cameroon-Equatorial Guinea
border. From Compo Beach, take a speedboat (35 minutes on the River Ntem). Once docked,
take a short 20-minute walk and you're at the construction site on the banks of a branch of the
Ntem called Bongola. Once docked, take a short 45-minute walk and you're at the site of the
rehabilitation of the three huts (where the work is taking place), also known as the main gorilla
habituation camp.5. Applications file
