BACKGROUND
LifeAID is a non-profit organization that fosters youth centered development initiatives, peace, security and development. Its mandate is to catalyze peace, security and development processes in Africa. Our values are: Responsibility, Integrity, Impact, Accountability, Teamwork (RIIAT). One of the key activities is led by the Institute for Security and Policy Studies (ISPS) which is a Think Tank that conducts research, analysis and prospective studies as well as offers expertise in peace and security, governance and democracy and development.

LifeAID is currently in search an Executive Director who will serve as the senior leader responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and impact of LifeAID. Its primary goal will be to advance the mission and vision of LifeAID, ensuring its sustainability, growth, and effective delivery of programs and services. He will lead a team of staff members and work closely with the chairperson, the board of directors, partners, donors, and other stakeholders to achieve LifeAID’s goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing executive team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement;
Develop and implement LifeIAD strategic plan, in alignment with its vision, mission and values;
Recruit, nurture, train, and manage the effectiveness of a highly qualified and motivated executive management team;
Provide visionary leadership and guidance to the staff, volunteers, and partners, fostering a culture of collaboration, teamwork, innovation and excellence;
Ensure departmental plans, goals, and objectives are prepared, executed, and evaluated promptly.
Program Management and Impact

Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives to ensure they align with LifeAID objectives;
Establish and maintain positive relationships with partner organizations, local governments, regulatory agencies, civil society organizations, and development partners;
Monitor program outcomes and impact, ensuring effective use of resources and adherence to ethical and legal standards;
Provide leadership in developing new programs and restructuring existing portfolios;
Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement, promoting best practices and innovation in program delivery.
Financial and Resource Management

Develop and manage the organization’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability;
Oversee the Foundation’s annual budgeting process and monthly financial tracking, ensuring that the Foundation operates within those budgetary guidelines;
Establish and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding agencies, ensuring effective stewardship of resources;
Ensure the Foundation’s financial management system meets national and international principles and guidelines, and it has sufficient internal controls;
Identify and pursue diverse funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and partnerships, to support the organization’s activities.
Stakeholder Engagement Partnerships and fundraising

Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, partner NGOs, and the media;
Represent LifeAID in public forums, conferences, and meetings, advocating for its mission and raising awareness of its work;
Collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders to leverage resources, share knowledge, and maximize impact;
Oversee the assurance of positive public opinion regarding the Foundation’s work and maintain responsible communication strategies;
identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors at both individual and institutional levels;
Strategically collaborate with other organizations and groups to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities.
Governance and Board Relations

Work closely with the chairperson and the board of directors, providing regular updates, reports, and recommendations on organizational performance and strategic direction;
Maintain a written Strategic Plan that is periodically updated and documented and reflects the Foundation’s goals, ensuring continued growth and inclusive excellence.
Support the board in governance matters, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and ethical standards;
Develop a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board to ensure open communication and evaluation of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones and goals;
Facilitate board meetings and engage directors in strategic discussions and decision-making processes.
Required Skills and Experience

A minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience;
Significant expertise and experience in policy development and practice;
Expertise in organizational development, strategic planning, and management;
Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
A creative thinker able to set the strategic vision for an organization that involves many fields.
Ability to provide decisive leadership while receiving insight and advice from diverse stakeholders;
Experience and an understanding of the responsibility of institutional fundraising, along with a creative understanding of how to access and use various funding sources;
Financial acumen and evidence of fiscal leadership in setting budgets and priorities as well as assessing organizational risk.
Management skills to inspire and motivate team members, instill trust, and lead change.
