Job Description – Data Management Officer : The Center for Health Promotion and Research

Background: The Center for Health Promotion and Research provides high quality laboratory
diagnostic services, undertakes programs to strengthen the health system, and engages in research
to increase knowledge and inform policy change.
Position Summary: Support the Data Manager in database design and development, user training,
and high-quality data analysis using Python, Excel (including Power Query and Power Pivot), and
Power BI. This is a pivotal role in aiding research teams to achieve project goals. Located in
Bamenda, with some travel (5-15%) to other regions.
Typical Responsibilities:
• Handle complex data from multiple sources and databases, leveraging Python for processing
and Power BI for data visualization
• Utilize Excel with Power Query and Power Pivot for advanced data manipulation and analysis
• Ensure quality in data collection processes and employ Excel’s Power tools for efficient data
management
• Develop and update program monitoring and reporting tools using Excel, Power BI, and
Python
• Monitor data collection across different sites using Power BI dashboards
Additional Duties:
• Conduct user surveys, analyze results with Python, and suggest system enhancements
• Educate and assist project personnel in data collection and M&E tools, focusing on Excel’s
Power Query and Power Pivot functionalities
• Facilitate communication between software developers and users, with an emphasis on
Python and Excel-based tools
• Innovate MEAL tools and procedures using Excel’s advanced features
Qualifications:
• Master’s/Bachelor’s in computer science, data science or related field, or equivalent
experience
• Minimum 1 year of data management experience, with strong skills in Python, Excel (Power
Query, Power Pivot), and Power BI
• Proficient in English; French is a plus
• Strong planning, critical thinking, and ability to work independently
