Position summary: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Systems Administrator to manage and
maintain our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security,
and efficiency of our systems while supporting the organization’s technology-driven healthcare and research
initiatives. Full-time position, based in Bamenda with ~5-15% travel to other regions.
Typical responsibilities and duties, depending on skill set:
• System Maintenance and Monitoring:
o Oversee the performance and security of servers, networks, and IT systems
o Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly
• Database Administration:
o Manage SQL databases, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance
o Support database users and troubleshoot database-related issues
• Platform Administration:
o Oversee the REDCap platform hosting, administration and maintenance for data management
and research needs
o Maintain and update web hosting services to ensure secure and reliable operation
• Backup and Disaster Recovery:
o Implement and monitor data backup and recovery processes
o Develop disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
• Security and Compliance:
o Manage firewalls, antivirus solutions, and access controls to protect sensitive data
o Ensure IT operations comply with organizational and regulatory standards
• User Support and Documentation:
o Provide technical support to staff and resolve system-related queries
o Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, procedures, and best practices
Qualifications:
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s
degree preferred).
• Experience:
o (Preferred) 3 years of proven experience in systems administration or a related IT role.
• Technical Expertise:
o Proficiency in managing SQL databases and optimizing their performance.
o Familiarity with REDCap, web hosting platforms, and IT security protocols.
o Hands-on experience with server virtualization tools (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and operating
systems (Windows/Linux).
• Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
o Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
o Knowledge of healthcare or research IT environments is an advantage.
