Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation
Analyze new and existing business initiatives (e.g., new service launches, infrastructure investments, cross-border transactions) for tax impact.
Support the identification of opportunities for tax savings or optimization, especially in digital and data services.
Drive the implementation of tax structure modifications (e.g., intercompany agreements, transfer pricing policies).
Collaborate with IT and finance teams to integrate tax requirements into systems and ERP tools.
Assist in the implementation of tax automation and digital tax reporting initiatives.
Proactively identify tax risks related to strategic projects and advise on mitigation strategies.
Support audit defense strategies and manage documentation related to strategic positions (e.g., Advance Pricing Agreements, tax rulings).
Partner with Legal, Treasury, Regulatory Affairs, and Business Development teams to align tax strategies with operational goals.
Operational Delivery
1. Timely Filing & Payment
Preparing and submitting tax returns (VAT, CIT, WHT, etc.).
Ensuring accurate and timely tax payments to avoid penalties.
2. Tax Accounting & Reporting
Reconciling tax accounts.
Recording tax provisions and disclosures in financial statements.
3. Transactional Tax Compliance
Ensuring correct tax treatment of daily business operations (e.g., invoices, payroll, imports).
4. Audit Support
Maintaining audit-ready documentation.
Responding to tax authority queries.
Ensuring ERP systems capture tax requirements.
5. Process and System Integration
Supporting automation and standardization of tax processes.
Qualifications
Education:
1. Minimum Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
Accounting
Taxation
Finance
Economics
Business Administration
2. Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in taxation or finance (optional but advantageous).
Professional certifications such as:
CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser)
CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
3. Additional Training/Skills:
Training in tax compliance software, ERP systems (e.g., tax reporting tools).
Continuing professional development (CPD) in local or international tax law.
Fluent in English and language of country preferable
Experience:
1. Years of Experience
3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in tax, accounting, or finance.
2. Functional Experience
Experience in tax compliance, such as preparing VAT, corporate income tax, and withholding tax returns.
Hands-on experience with tax accounting and reconciliations
Familiarity with tax audits, regulatory interactions, and document preparation.
3. Industry or Sector Experience
Experience in a multinational company or Big 4 audit/tax advisory firm is an advantage.
Sector-specific knowledge (e.g., telecommunications, *energy*,) can be a strong advantage.
4. Systems & Tools
Working knowledge of ERP systems
Experience with tax software and digital compliance platforms.
Be familiar with DGI systems
Functional Knowledge:
1. Tax Law and Regulations
Deep understanding of corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, and tax incentives
Awareness of local laws and international frameworks (e.g., OECD, BEPS, Double Tax Treaties).
2. Tax Accounting & Reporting
Knowledge of deferred tax, accruals, and tax provision calculations.
Ability to prepare and interpret tax disclosures in financial statements.
3. Compliance Processes
Mastery of tax filing processes, deadlines, and supporting documentation requirements.
Understanding of audit readiness and how to respond to tax authorities.
4. Systems & Tools
Functional use of ERP systems for tax coding, extraction, and reconciliations.
Use of e-filing platforms, tax software, or Excel templates for calculations and tracking.
5. Interdepartmental Tax Impact
Understanding how tax interacts with HR (payroll taxes), procurement (WHT), sales (VAT), etc.
Ability to advise departments on tax-effective structuring of transactions.
Skills
1. Tax Compliance & Reporting
Ability to prepare accurate VAT, CIT, WHT returns.
Knowledge of tax accounting and reconciliation processes.
2. ERP and Tax Software Proficiency
Skilled in using systems
Familiarity with e-filing platforms and tax calculation tools (e.g., Excel, tax engines).

Ability to interpret data, detect inconsistencies, and ensure tax accuracy.
Strong problem-solving skills for complex tax issues.
4. Documentation and Audit Readiness
Skilled in maintaining well-organized tax records and supporting files.
Experience preparing for and responding to tax audits.

Precision in calculations, filings, and document review.

Ability to explain tax issues clearly to non-tax colleagues and management.
Professional interaction with tax authorities.
