INTRODUCTION
Medical humanitarian non-governmental organization (NGO) governed by Swiss law; Doctors of the World Switzerland (MdM-CH) works in the field to restore sustainable access to healthcare for excluded people. It has been present in Cameroon since 2013 and implements several projects, around three (03) main thematic axes: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Prevention and Management of Violence and Pediatric Palliative Care.
As part of the implementation of the third phase of our project “Strengthening the protection of vulnerable populations in the North West and West regions of Cameroon,” we are looking for a “Focal Point for Community Action” for our activities in Santa.
- JOB DESCRIPTION :
Placed under the responsibility of the “Mental health supervisor,” within a project team of seven people, your main mission is to guarantee the optimal implementation of interventions in terms of protection of vulnerable populations in Santa.
More specifically, the main responsibilities/tasks of the Focal Point for Community Action are:
Objective 1: Ensure, facilitate and provide psychosocial support to victims of violence.
· Ensure the proper functioning of the Integrated First Aid Unit of the Santa District Hospital.
· Identify GBV survivors in the community and refer them to the Integrated First Aid Unit of the Santa District Hospital.
· Participate in the planning, organization and holding of weekly Mobile Clinic campaigns in the neighbourhoods of Santa.
· Working with the project’s Mobile Clinic Team in the identification and referral of cases of gender-based violence
· Liaise with the actors of the protection sector in Santa (MINAS, MINPROF, community-based organizations, local NGO and international NGOs….)to facilitate the primary provision of first aid care to victims of gender-based violence and referral to the Integrated Support Unit (ISU) of the Bamenda regional hospital.
· Provide psychosocial support as needed and monitor victims in the community.
Objective 2: Teamwork and activity management
· Ensure compliance with local legislation in carrying out project activities.
· Ensure strict compliance with the MdM-Cha and donor procedures and policies in the implementation of activities.
· Ensure a synergy of actions and a privileged link between MdM-CH and the other local partners.
· Identify difficulties encountered during activity implementation and propose solutions to the Mental health supervisor.
· Ensure a good atmosphere and promote a good team spirit.
· Represent MdM-CH with the beneficiary communities of the project.
· Support and actively contribute to information and awareness-raising activities for target populations and opinion leaders in the area of intervention on GBV and SRHR.
· Conduct advocacy with community leaders and other community leaders around violence prevention and response.
Objective 3: Monitoring and reporting of activities.
· Provide technical support for activities conducted by Community Based Organizations.
· Participate in the capitalization of good experiences and practices developed on the project.
· Regularly report to his direct superior on the evolution of activities and inform of decisions to be taken or taken in the field.
· Ensure monthly reporting of activities implemented.
· Participate in weekly project team meetings.
· Write minutes of meetings.
· Ensure the efficient management of funds received for an activity.
· Ensure the organization and holding of regular coordination meetings with the target groups.
· Engage the community at all levels to build and strengthen and maintain a community referral network.
· Coordinate the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of GBV communication activities.
Activities may change depending on the context.
- REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
2.1 EDUCATION
· GC Advance level ;
· A background in social sciences or equivalent is an asset.
2.2 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Ø Required
· Work experience of 02 years with a National or International NGO in the field of protection.
· Work experience of 02 years on the theme of gender-based violence.
· Experience working with IDPs, vulnerable persons, children and adolescents in school and community settings is an asset.
· At least 02 years' work experience in Santa Sub-division
· Work experience and knowledge of the administrative organization of Santa Subdivision is an asset.
2.3 GENERAL AND SPECIFIC SKILLS
· Excellent relational and influencing skills in multicultural contexts.
· Autonomy, pro-activity and solution-oriented
· Good analytical and report writing skills.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and/or English
· Mastery and manipulation of the tools of the Office Pack (Word, Excel, Power point, Excel etc.);
· Ability to speak one of the local languages (Pidgin, etc.) would be an asset.
· Good knowledge of the theme of the fight against violence.
· Good analytical and writing skills.
· Good organizational skills and flexibility.
· Very good communication skills.
· Good ability to work in a team.
