For our Country Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed IT Expert for Database
Creation.
Reports to: Congo Basin Impact Monitoring Coordinator
Location: Yaounde
Duration: One (1) year renewable
The mission of the department
The Congo Basin countries are actively contributing to the Outcomes of some Practices (Wildlife, Forests,
Food, Climate & Energy, Freshwater and Governance) implemented in their respective programmes.
A strong and integrated monitoring programme has been designed and being implemented to
demonstrate conservation impacts and promote key conservation outputs. The regional lead of the
programme is engaged with the whole network to develop decision-making tools such as interactive
dashboards and online databases with a use-friendly interface. The hiring of a high-level IT expert in line
with the current Terms of References will help to support such ongoing projects.
Major Functions
Under the supervision of the Congo Basin Impact Monitoring Coordinator, the IT Expert will lead the
development of an online database that will support the automated result production and presentation
in a structured and useful way for decision-making and easy information/data storage. In close
collaboration with the other team members and the TRIDOM-CIBEL project implementation team, the IT
Expert will gather all relevant information/data to complete a use-friendly interface for reporting and
communication. The IT Expert will also build a related desktop and/or mobile application for all users.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
To build a structured database based on a Python or Java language.
To integrate queries that could compute results and create graphs for trend analysis.

Creation To integrate web mapping in the database for the spatial presentation of the outputs of the
queries.
To integrate modelling and high-level data analysis modules to facilitate the easy creation of
relevant results and future states.
To construct a website for the online functioning of the database.
To develop a related standalone software for the database for desktop and offline use, where the
desktop application could be updated online.
Profile:
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Master’s Degree in Online Database Creation and Management, Web Mapping and
Programming, Development of Applications, or related subjects.
At least 5-year experience in programming with Java and Python languages.
At least 3-year experience in front end and back-end development.
Proven experience in the development of applications and web databases.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Familiarity with SQL language and database creation.
Good statistical and data analysis capacities with good understanding of modelling processes
using crosscutting data from various sources.
Demonstrated knowledge in GIS and experience in Web Mapping.
Experience in cloud computing and storage management will be an asset.
Good skills both written and verbal (English and French).
Capable of working with minimal supervision.
Able to work effectively in various cultural environments.

Working Relationships:
Internal
Works closely with the TRIDOM programme managers in countries, country M&E managers, as well as
national biomonitoring teams and the regional team in order to collect the required data needed for
the online platform. The position will require a direct supervision of the Congo Basin Impact
Monitoring Coordinator.
External
As part of the Regional Impact Monitoring programme, the position may require close collaboration
with partner organisations such as WCS, ZSL, IUCN, COMIFAC/OFAC, AWF, etc. as well as universities
and research centres working in the programming domain at national and international levels.This job description covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that are
