JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – CAMPHIA 2024 Field Work Zone Coordinator - Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Board (CBCHB)
A. Description of the organization:
The Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Board (CBCHB) is a faith based non-profit organization that
aims to provide quality health care to all by strengthening health systems in Cameroon. Established in
1936 by missionaries, it was transitioned to local leadership in 1975. It runs 12 hospitals, 32 Integrated
Health Centers, and 61 Primary Health Centers in eight of the ten regions of Cameroon. The CBCHB
runs public health programs in all the 10 regions of Cameroon including HIV/AIDS care and treatment,
NCD, Women health, disability programs, etc. It has a staff capacity of over 6,000 full-time employees.
The CBCHB is the leading local organization that supports MoH in HIV prevention, care and treatment,
system strengthening including strategic information, clinical services, and program management. It is
currently one of the key implementing partners of the PEPFAR funded grants in Cameroon with its roots
in comprehensive, community and family focused HIV services.

B. Program description:
In partnership with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CBCHB will
conduct the second Population-based HIV Impact Assessments (PHIA) in Cameroon. Described as
CAMPHIA 2024, the survey will define the status of the national HIV epidemic response, guide allocation
of resources based on evidence. CAMPHIA 2 will be government led and country owned with the
following overarching guiding principles:
1. Ensure timely and high-quality implementation to inform HIV epidemic control.
2. Strengthen local capacity of the health sector in conducting population-based health studies.
3. Contribute to the creation of a National Public Health Institute (NPHI), especially around lab and
data management.
4. Leverage a strong foundation of technical assistance.
To achieve these goals, CBCHB will be working in close partnership with key entities of the MoH, the
National Institute of Statistics, ICAP and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Cameroon. CAMPHIA 2 will be able to estimate the population-level impact of the national HIV
prevention, care, and treatment programs in Cameroon. In addition to providing important
programmatic information to the MoH and relevant stakeholders, this assessment of the national HIV
program is of great value to HIV epidemic control in Cameroon. To implement this national survey, the
CBCHB needs the services of 4 laboratory work zone coordinators who will supervise the lab field activities
and the satellite laboratories in the different work zones of the project.
C. General information

Supervises: CAMPHIA 2024 Field Teams in the Zone
Job Location: One of the four Field Work Zones (FWZs) as follows;
i. FWZ1 (Far North, North, Adamawa)
ii. FWZ2 (Center, Yaounde, East)
iii. FWZ3 (Littoral, Douala, South)
iv. FWZ4 (Southwest, West, Northwest)
Travel: Up to 50% in intervention districts outside of job location
Overall, Job Function:
Reporting to the CAMPHIA 2024 Survey Coordinator, the CAMPHIA 2024 Work Zone Coordinator
(WZC) will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day survey implementation in his/her assigned
WZ. The WZC Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all of day-to-day survey team activities,
coordinate, monitor and support the field teams, and support the overall field implementation of the
survey including linkage activities within his or her WZ. The incumbent will participate in the training of
staff on the study protocol, procedures, policies, relevant regulations and ensure that the study
protocol, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other relevant policies and regulations are being
appropriately adhered to at the WZ level. The WZC Coordinator will report study progress in the WZ
and maintain study regulatory files.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Coordinate all aspects of fieldwork, with emphasis on advocacy, data and sample collection, and
logistic planning, as well as support the Work zone lab coordinator and community mobilization
officers during fieldwork.
2. Assist with the recruitment, training, mentoring, monitoring, and supervision of field staff and ensure
that field teams understand and adhere to the CAMPHIA protocol, SOPs, and other appropriate
regulations, procedures, and policies.
3. Ensure the availability, appropriate storage, and good working condition of necessary equipment
and oversee the distribution of these equipment, consumables, and other office supplies to
CAMPHIA staff in their WZ.
4. Monitor all field teams in the WZ to ensure timely recruitment of participants, collection of highquality data, and the correct documentation of all survey activities.
5. Work with field teams to ensure that survey participants who test positive are linked to health care
services for treatment and psychosocial support, while victims of violence are linked to social
Coordinate field team logistics as well as verify and validate all vehicle travel and fuel consumption
logs from their work zone.
7. Ensure the safety of all CAMPHIA staff and material on the field through close collaboration with
administrative and security officials.
8. Organize and coordinate meetings involving CAMPHIA staff and field teams in the zone to discuss
progress and challenges and produce a monthly/weekly work plan and budget for all project
activities.
9. Prepare and submit daily updates and weekly reports on the project's progress.
10. Represent CBCHB at high-level meetings with other stakeholders in the zone.
11. Attend weekly progress review meetings with all stakeholders to discuss challenges and get inputs
and instructions from technical experts and the CBCHB hierarchy on how to improve on and
advance with project execution.
12. Work with the Finance, logistics, and administrative departments in aspects including budgeting,
cross-checking, validation of advance requests and budgets submitted by staff, logistics planning,
budget and budget reconciliation.
13. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Survey Coordinator.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
Required Education:
• Masters’ degree or higher in public health or related field or bachelor’s with significant relevant
technical experience.
Required Technical Experience:
• Minimum 5 years’ work experience in public health research or surveys, preferably on HIV/AIDS and
at the national level.
Required Managerial Experience:
Minimum 3 years’ supervising a multidisciplinary team of at least 10 staff in similar survey settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English and French required.
• Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint at minimum; preferred proficiency
with statistical Software such as SAS and SPSS).
• Ability to provide high quality technical assistance and lead and work with a diverse team.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to work after normal working hours and on weekends with constant travel outside of duty
station.
