CALL FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF A (02) TECHNICAL ADVISORS FOR THE PROJECT PROMOTING TRANSFORMATIVE GENDER APPROACHES TO STRENGTHEN THE RESILIENCE OF CAMEROONIAN CIVIL SOCIETY WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE SOUTH-WEST/NORTH-WEST REGIONS OF CAMEROON OF DEUTSCHE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR INTERNATIONALE ZUSAMMENARBEIT (GIZ/SoCiG) GmbH BASED IN (BAMENDA AND BUEA).
General context
To strengthen the social and economic participation of women, the objective of the Project (SoCiG) is “Civil society organizations committed to gender equality have made a more effective contribution to the equal social and economic participation of the population of Cameroon, particularly in the North-West and South-West regions. ".
The project intervention areas are all of Cameroon (component I, Output 1), particularly the North-West and South-West (component II, Output 2 to 4). The project is deployed based on an approach to achieve four (04) Outputs:
- Output 1: The individual and organizational capacities of Cameroonian civil society organized and committed to gender equality have been strengthened with a view to greater participation in political dialogue.
- Output 2: The formats supported by civil society actors to modify gender roles, resolve conflicts or promote social cohesion in the North-West and South-West have been strengthened.
- Output 3: The resilience of the population of conflict-affected communities in the North West and South West has improved thanks to the involvement of civil society committed to gender equality.
- Output 4: The contribution of civil society actors to the holistic care of survivors of gender-based violence in the North-West and South-West has increased.
To this end, the Civil Society Gender Project (GIZ/SoCiG) is launching a call for applications for the recruitment of two (02) Technical Advisors for Outputs 2 to 4 based in Bamenda (1) and Buea (1).
- Core Tasks and Main activities
- Technical, organizational and substantive implementation of project measures and activities in the regions.
- In consultation with the line manager, assuming tasks related to planning, steering and monitoring the project – and to a certain extent with project administration.
- Specialist support to colleagues in bands 1, 2 and 3
- Responsibility for the quality of the commission’s outcomes
- Contributions to the conceptual design of the project, particularly in the event of modification or realignment.
- Technical and substantive contributions to overarching issues in cooperation with commissioning parties/clients, partners and other actors
- Contributions to achieving the agreed objectives of the project, impulses for the further strategy development
- In consultation with the project team colleagues and line manager, coordination of all issues within your area of work and ensure that they are dealt with promptly and competently.
- Resolve issues that arise in the area of responsibility on the basis of existing rules and draw attention to more complex challenges to your team.
- If required support of other experts in familiarising themselves with and performing their tasks
- Tasks that are assigned by your supervisor
- Mapping of Civil Society organizations
- Networking of Civil Society organizations
- Support for Civil Society organizations.
- Technical monitoring of calls for applications for Civil Society organizations
- Technical monitoring of local subsidies for Civil Society organizations
- Design, preparation and implementation and documentation of dialogues, workshops, seminars and other events on themes related to the project's areas of activity.
- Monitoring of budgets allocated to activities on GIZ software
- Administrative management in accordance with the objectives of the SoCiG and the guidelines/procedures of the GIZ;
- Electronic and physical classification of files related to Output 1
- Contribution to the collection of data for monitoring results.
- Contribution to various reports including annual activity reports
- Preparation of reports and translations
- In consultation with the communications manager, communication support, updating and collection of information on the activities and impact of the project.
- Development of synergies and added value between component 2 and component 1 of the project
Qualifications
University degree/Master's degree, in a specialty related to the objectives of the project (Social, economic, legal sciences) or a similar qualification
Competences
- Good knowledge of the context, challenges and issues of Civil Society
- Very good knowledge of actors in civil society and local authorities
- Very good knowledge of gender transformative approaches
- Good knowledge of organizational development
- Good knowledge of financial monitoring of local subsidies
- Good Knowledge of livelihood approaches
- Good Knowledge of social cohesion approaches
- Knowledge of communication techniques focused on target groups
- Knowledge of participatory methods and approaches
- Knowledge of networking methods
- Good knowledge of facilitation techniques
- Working skills in a multicultural environment
- Very good practical knowledge of the use of information and communication technologies (corresponding software as well as telephone, fax, e-mail, Internet) as well as computer applications (such as MS Office)
- Experience at GIZ would be considered an asset.
- Very good written and oral command of the English and French languages, knowledge of German will be considered an asset
Professional experience
- Five years of professional experience including two years in a similar position
Contract start date: 01.05.2024
Contract period: 2 years renewable
Place of assignment: Bamenda and Buea – with ocassional trips to other regions.
Deadline for admissibility of application files: 04.04.2024
Internal classification of the position: Band 4T under the hierarchical supervision of the Component manager.
