- INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1993, Médecins du Monde-Switzerland (MdM-CH) is a humanitarian non-governmental organization working in Switzerland and internationally to establish sustainable access to healthcare for excluded populations. MdM-CH has been present in Cameroon since 2013, and its main aim is to improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Reporting to the General Coordinator and under the hierarchical supervision of the Programs Coordinator and with the technical support of the SRHR technical advisor, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing the project titled " Strengthening access to maternal, neonatal and infant/child healthcare for the populations of three health districts in the North-West Region."
Objective 1: Planning and coordination of project activities
- Participates in updating internal tools for planning and monitoring activities.
- Coordinates and supervises the implementation of planned activities in accordance with the updated timetable.
- Works with the rest of the team to ensure that activities are carried out to the highest quality standards.
- Draws up work plans and cash-flow plan according to established frequencies.
- Schedules, organizes and moderates weekly coordination meetings and ensures the availability of meeting reports.
Objective 2: Management of the project team, collaboration with partners and representing MdM-CH
- Represents MdM-CH with different project partners and other project stakeholders.
- Ensures cohesion between MdM-CH's intervention and other projects in the areas of intervention.
- Participates with other humanitarian actors and development organisations in monitoring of the security context and the compilation of information on movements of internally displaced persons.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with the contractual commitments and obligations of hired experts.
- Provides technical support to the national partners involved in implementing the project, according to identified needs.
Objective 3: Project monitoring and follow-up
- Monitor the level of project implementation by following-up the timetable of activities, indicators and budget.
- Draws up the project's annual, bi-annual and quarterly work plans, incorporating the scope of project activities, costs and other inputs for implementing the activities.
- Participates in improving the quality of activities implemented by community health workers through field visits to supervise and support those in charge of community activities in the health districts.
- As Budget Manager, monitors the budget in close collaboration with his/her direct line manager and with the support of the support team.
- REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Education
- Training in general medicine or nursing is required.
- Additional training in public health, sexual and reproductive health and/or project management would be an added advantage.
2. Professional experience
Ø Required
- At least two (2) years as a Project Manager in an international organisation in an emergency context.
- Must have managed at least one (1) project on maternal, neonatal and child health or sexual health in an emergency context.
- Experience in community health in the Northwest and/or South West in general and Menchum and Momo Divisions in particular.
Ø Asset
- Clinical experience in gynaecology and/or paediatrics.
- Experience of working in the field of protection of vulnerable populations including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and ethnic minorities.
3. General and specific skills
- Excellent project planning and implementation skills.
- Project/program management based on the Results-Based Management (RBM) approach.
- Ability to establish and foster respectful, collaborative working relationships within the project team, the organization and with the various partners: NGOs, State structures, communities, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; French will be an asset.
