JOB ANNOUNCEMENT : Supervisor of Data Collectors - Christian Health Association of Cameroon (CHAC)

The Christian Health Association of Cameroon (CHAC) hereby announces a job vacancy for a Supervisor of Data
Collectors for Formative Research on Routine Immunization SBC Programming in Cameroon.

Position: Supervisor of Data Collectors
Location: Nkolndongo, Yaounde, Cameroon

Duration: 22 days in total: 3 days for training, 14 days data collection, 5 days for data transcription and reporting.
Application Deadline: August 26, 2024

Overview:

We need the services of experienced and skilled qualitative data collectors to join our team for a formative research project
on routine immunization Social and Behavior Change (SBC) programming in Cameroon. The project aims to gather in-
depth qualitative data to inform effective immunization strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide ethical oversight to data collection. This includes ensuring that all data collectors adhere to protection
policy, obtaining informed consent or assent, ensure participants’ confidentiality, and handle sensitive information
with care.

2. Ensure participant identification meets inclusion criteria. This includes training CHWs in inclusion criteria.

3. Conduct daily quality control and assurance. Monitor the quality of the data collected to ensure participant
inclusion criteria is met and interviews meet the research standards, ensuring appropriate recording, note-taking,
and transcription of interviews.

4. Use a quality improvement verification checklist (QIVC), provide feedback and technical troubleshooting to data
collectors after key informant interviews.

5. Support data collectors in quickly troubleshooting logistic problems during data collection.

Manage data daily, including proper handling and storage of notes, and transcripts, ensuring that all this

information is secure and organized for analysis. Daily handover of data sets to M&E lead.

Provide continuous communication and reports to M&E lead and research team.

Maintain ethical standards in all research activities, ensuring respect, safety, and confidentiality of participants.

9. Adhere to Christian Health Associations of Cameroon (CHAC)'s protection policy
10. Prepare detailed field reports and contribute to the final research report.

11, Supervise data transcription and translate data sets to French or English if necessary.

12. Coordinate and manage the work of data collectors, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring
timely completion of work.

13. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss challenges, share best practices, and ensure consistency in data
collection methods across the team.

14. Liaise between the data collection team and the broader research team, communicating updates, challenges,
and progress regularly.

15. Perform other duties as assigned during the project.

Qualifications:

Potential candidates should possess the following:

1. Have general knowledge of routine immunization is desirable
A copy of CV

Proof of experience in research or data collection

Hold a master's degree in social sciences or Humanities with a background in one of the following topics:

sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, or any other related field

Cultural sensitivity and knowledge of local customs

Ability to work with a diverse team

Experience in qualitative primary data collection methods

Willing to work, travel, and undertake primary data collection in the project target locations within Cameroon

0. Good writing skills for transcription and reporting

1. Fluent in written and spoken French or English. Knowledge of local languages such as Pidgin, Fulfulde, or other
relevant Cameroonian languages will be a plus

12. Willingness to work with a translator if not bilingual
