Action Against Hunger – Cameroon
Actions Against Hunger is an International Non Governmental Organization (NGO), apolitical, non
denominational and non-profit. For our operations in Cameroon, we are looking for:
MIDWIFE M/F
Base: Kumba (south west region)
Number of positions : 1
Contract duration: Until 31 March 2025
start date: 05/11/2024
supervised by: Health and Nutrition Senior Officer
Location : Kumba South-West Region
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
Objective 1 : Support the management of the HF level through supportive supervision and
Mobile Clinic when applicable;
Activities:
- Conduct weekly supportive supervision
- Conduct monthly meetings with health workers and CHWs.
- Ensure no stock out at the HF by conducting monthly physical inventory and placing monthly
orders.
- Maintain a database system for the health facility
- Submit monthly reports
Objective 2 : Support community health activities
Activities
- Ensure that the referral system from the community to the health facility and from the health
facility to KRHA is efficient and functional.
- Ensure that each CHW is conducting Objective 1 : Support the management of the HF level
through supportive supervision and Mobile Clinic when applicable
Objective 3 : Adequate communication and representation of the Organization at various levels
Activities
- Follow up all PLW referred to higher levels to ensure they receive the services they were
referred for.
- Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidelines, ensuring aseptic conditions in
providing MC services
- Provide health education in the RH waiting areas to all PLW waiting to receive services
- Actively participate during Continuous Medical Education sessions.
- Ensure safety and security of staff and organization by adhering to humanitarian principles and
organizational safety and security policies.
- Participate in organizational meetings and other activities for program and quality
improvement
- Be able to use a PEP kit when indicated and provide technical support to the public health
facility staff in its appropriated usage
- Take on any assignment and role delegated by line manager, this may includes drug stock
management
Objective 4: Reporting/archiving
Activities :
- Manage field data with the aim of contributing to preparation of routine reports
- Assemble all data entries for the month, interpret and share with the N+1
- Ensure the classification and archiving of documents
- Participate in updating the monthly APR as N+1 guides.
- Provide all updated and reliable information on time concerning the number of patients
received when needed
DIPLOMAS/STUDIES/EXPERIENCE :
- Essential, Diploma from a recognized institution in Midwifery. Desirable, degree in nursing or in
midwifery will be an added advantage
- Essential: previous experience of at least 3 years in similar or relevant positions and NGO, in a
humanitarian context
- Desirable, experience in team management, assessments and report writing
- Desirable, experience working with drug supply and stock management
REQUIRED SKILLS :
- Results, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, Stress Management., Strong organizational skills,
Honesty, integrity, inter-personal and relation skills
Essential English(fluent) and local languages of working areas(pidgin English)
