JOB ANNOUNCEMENT : TRANSLATOR AND ARCHIVISTS OFFICER, SAFECARE Project - Shwari Health Cameroon
Shwari Health Cameroon is a locally registered organization with a vision to ensure the provision of quality, effective and innovative evidence-based solutions to address health systems challenges within the health sector in Cameroon and beyond with a special focus to children and adolescents. To achieve this, Shwari Health Cameroon uses proven community strategies to identify HIV infected children and adolescents, refer them to health facilities for initiation on treatment, support and accompany them through treatment to ensure they remain in care and achieve viral suppression. Our mission is to be one of the most sought-after implementations science associations in Cameroon that uses evidence-based strategies to effectively cover the ‘Know-Do’ gaps in the provision of health services. We aim to achieve this through the application of modern evidence generation and synthesis methods to understand operational contexts so as to devise strategies that could make the implementation efforts more effective and efficient. SHWARI Health Association, in partnership with Georgetown University's Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI), the Government of the Republic of Cameroon's Regional Technical Groups (RTGs), will be implementing a project titled SAFECARE-Cameroon, which is a 5-year CDC/PEPFAR-Funded project. SAFECARE-Cameroon’s goal is to develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive facility and community-based HIV services for children, adolescents, and adults in Cameroon in PEPFAR supported regions of the country and support the country to fast track its progress to achieve HIV epidemic control. As a result, SHWARI Health Association Cameroon (SHAC) is recruiting for the following program implementation positions. All prospective candidates must be fluent in French and working knowledge of English. These positions will be based in Yaoundé or Bertoua.
SHAC Office Positions
Position: TRANSLATOR AND ARCHIVISTS OFFICER, SAFECARE Project -Cameroon
Reports to: Finance Lead and Operation
Location of work: Yaounde, Cameroon
Number of positions: 01
Position Overview: The incumbent of this position will be in charge of all documentation translation and for all SHAC documentation archive for project activities..
Essential Functions
Technical expertise
o Ensure the translation of written reports, publications, and digital content from one language to another; Working closely with Finance Department, project Director and other professionals within SHAC, to understand the specifics and requirements of each translation task.
o Proofreading, editing, and revising translated materials to ensure accuracy and clarity; Maintaining a high level of language skills in both the source and target languages.
o Ensure the Organization, classification and archival of records to facilitate easy access and retrieval
o Preserving records by implementing methods to prevent deterioration and damage .
o Assisting researchers and visitors in accessing archival materials; Developing and maintaining databases or systems to manage archival materials;
o Digitizing records and creating digital backups to ensure their preservation Etc….
Communication
o Maintain reports and documentation that are consistent with the task at hand and available to all concerned parties via emails or standard archiving options
o Connects easily with supervisors and colleagues at all levels in a professional manner
Creativity
o Generate solutions or approaches to the most demanding problems within the organization.
o Establish workable, prioritized, and highly effective problem-solving plans for each problem
Mode of evaluation
Responses via email to supervisors, colleagues & management on key issues
Documentation of innovative new ideas or problem-solving initiative

Qualifications and Experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or modern letter or similar technical discipline; or, equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 4 years as Archivist and proficiency experience in French and English language, with an excellent understanding of grammar, nuances and cultural references.
• Specialized knowledge:
o Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office,.
o Familiarity with translation software
o Proficient understanding of security best practices.
o Strong attention to detail and focus on task completion.
o Internal and External Stakeholder Management.
o Ability to get on with all levels of people
• Possess strong relationship building skills.
• Professional fluency in oral and written English and French.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
