For our Country Office in Cameroon, we are looking for one (01) dynamic and Accounting Intern
to support the follow up of SYCEBNL accounting.
Under the supervision of the: Head of Accounting
Location: Yaounde
Duration: Six (06) months
Department Mission:
In a spirit of excellence, integrity, and dedication, the Finance Department is committed to
providing timely, accurate, clear and complete information, and support for Conservation
Department’s overall goals to be achieved by the Cameroon Country Office (CCO) and ROA
Unit at large.
Background
The new finance law of 2024 introduces significant changes for NGOs, requiring them to adhere
to OHADA (Organisation pour l ‘Harmonisation en Afrique du Droit des Affaires) accounting
standards. This means that NGOs must now prepare and present their financial statements
annually in accordance with these standards. To facilitate compliance, the Ministry of Finance has
issued a new, specialized chart of accounts tailored specifically to NGOs.
This move likely aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and uniformity in the financial
reporting of NGOs. Key points to consider include:
➢ OHADA Standards: These standards are widely used in many African countries and
emphasize uniformity, legal compliance, and detailed reporting. NGOs will need to ensure
their accounting teams are trained in OHADA principles.
➢ New Chart of Accounts: The dedicated chart of accounts for NGOs provides a structure
for categorizing financial transactions, ensuring consistency with the law's requirements.
It is crucial for NGOs to integrate this chart into their accounting systems.

Accounting Intern➢ Annual Reporting Requirement: The yearly financial statement submissions will likely
be scrutinized for compliance with the new standards, emphasizing the need for accurate
and timely reporting.
The new finance law 2024, require NGOs to produce financial statements in accordance with
OHADA accounting on a yearly basis. In effect a new chart of accounts has been produced by
the ministry of finance relating only to NGOs.
Main objectives
The internship is intended to:
• Support the Accounting team in meeting organizational financial requirements.
• Assist in preparing financial documentation and reports, including the DSF.
• Gain practical experience in accounting systems and nonprofit finance management.
Responsibilities
The intern will be expected to:
• Assist in maintaining financial records and ensuring accurate entries in accounting
software following SYCEBNL requirements.
• Help in tracking expenditures and income related to various projects and departments.
• Work closely with the accounting team to ensure all requirements for DSF production
are met in a timely manner.
• Support the monthly and quarterly financial reconciliation processes.
• Assist in preparing financial reports, summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with the team to update internal financial procedures and tools.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Profile
Required qualifications
• A holder of at least BSc in finance and accounting.
• 0-2 years of experience maximum.
• Familiarity with accounting principles (preferable OHADA and SYCEBNL) and financial
documentation.
Skills and competencies required
• Basic proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, QuickBooks, Sage, or Excel-based
tools).
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
