For our Impact Programme for Integrated Forest Landscape Management in the Congo Basin (GEF 7), we are looking for a dynamic and committed Communication Intern.
Reports to: GEF 7 IP Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist
Location: Yaounde, Cameroon
Duration: Six (06) months, renewable
Mission of the Department:
The project entitled ‘Impact Programme for Integrated Forest Landscape Management in the Congo Basin - Cameroon Component’, commonly known as GEF Project 7, aims to strengthen the integrated management of Cameroon's globally significant forest landscapes in the Congo Basin to ensure their biological integrity and increase economic opportunities and livelihoods for forest-dependent populations. Over a six-year period, the project addresses the main drivers and constraints of deforestation, forest degradation and biodiversity loss through an inclusive and integrated approach that aims to achieve and maintain the effective participation and empowerment of indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs) and strengthen their resilience. The project is being implemented across the Cameroonian segments of three transboundary landscapes: (i) the Campo Ma'an-Rio Campo landscape (769,446 ha), particularly around Campo Ma'an National Park; (ii) the Tri-National Dja-Odzala-Minkebe (TRIDOM) landscape (4,949,174 ha), and (iii) the Tri-National Sangha (TNS) landscape (1,490,552 ha), particularly in and around Lobéké National Park. This is achieved through five components, including component 5, which is: ‘Monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management and regional coordination.
As part of its efforts to raise its profile and promote its activities, the project is recruiting a professional intern to support internal and external communications, particularly digital communications, in line with the communications plan developed in 2023.
Major functions:
The intern's main objective will be to contribute to:
•
Improving the visibility of the project among partners, authorities, donors and communities.

Producing and disseminating high-quality communication content.
•
Supporting the capitalisation of results, good practices and lessons learned.
•
Strengthening the project's digital and media presence.
Major duties:
The intern will be responsible for:
1.
Content production
•
Writing articles, stories, information notes, success stories and testimonials on a monthly basis.
•
Contributing to the production of visual materials (posters, flyers, simple infographics).
•
Participating in the production of short videos (filming, basic editing).
•
Participating in the preparation of press releases and communication points.
2.
Digital communication
•
Regularly updating the project's web pages and social media accounts.
•
Monitoring media and digital coverage of the project's themes.
•
Publishing key events of the Impact Programme on the various platforms used by the Programme and its partners.
3.
Institutional communication support
•
Contribute to covering project activities (workshops, field missions, training courses, campaigns).
•
Contribute to the preparation of reports, newsletters and bulletins.
•
Support the creation of a classified and accessible photo/video library.
•
Support the organisation of communication events with stakeholders.
4.
Expected results
•
A variety of high-quality communication content is produced monthly.
•
The project's visibility is enhanced on social media and among partners.
•
Field activities are well documented (photographs, videos, short reports).
•
An organised database of visual and narrative resources is available.
•
Partners receive clear and regular information on the project's progress.
Profile:
Required Qualifications and Experience
•
Minimum three years of higher education in digital communication/marketing/audiovisual studies, or similar fields.
•
At least six (06) months of experience in the field of communication, with proven experience in social media management, communication material production, content creation and website publishing.
Required Skills and Competencies
•
Excellent writing skills in English and French
•
Basic proficiency in digital communication tools.
•
Proficiency in graphic design and/or video editing software
•
Rigorous, organized, independent, dynamic, available and a team player
•
Strong interest in the environment, conservation and sustainable development.
•
Ability to work in the field, sometimes in rural or forest areas.
