Job Summary

The Student Counsellor provides guidance and support to prospective students seeking study opportunities abroad. The role involves counselling students on suitable courses, institutions, and application processes while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Student Recruitment

●       Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement effective marketing and promotional campaigns tailored to the Cameroon market, aiming to attract prospective Cameroon students interested in studying abroad.

Social Media Presence

●       Host live sessions, webinars, and recorded videos on platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok to engage with students and showcase opportunities.

●       Develop and post engaging reels, stories, and live content to drive awareness and interest in international education programs.

●       Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring messaging and presentation are consistent and aligned with TCL voice and values.

Marketing Collaboration

●       Discuss promotional strategy, campaigns, and activities with the marketing department.

Industry Knowledge

●       Learn quickly about changes to visa requirements, education programs, and other factors key to helping students make informed decisions.

Experience Requirement

●       Previous experience in academic advising, international education, or a similar role is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience counselling students for overseas education in countries such as Canada, the UK, US, and Australia.

What You Bring to the Table

●       Strong sales skills with evidence of achieving and exceeding sales targets.

●       Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), cultural sensitivity, and the ability to provide empathetic support.

●       Familiarity with various international education systems, admission processes, and visa requirements.

●       Organized and diligent, with the ability to manage large student volumes and follow up regularly throughout the application journey.

●       Self-motivated and solutions-oriented, with strong initiative, focus, and problem-solving skills.

●       Ability to learn quickly about changes to visa requirements, education programs, and related factors.

●       Experience using Zendesk, Jira, and Google Suite is an asset.

●       Ability to prioritize tasks with attention to detail to ensure information accuracy.

●       Flexibility with working hours.

Core Duties

●       Counsel prospective students on study options, courses, and institutions abroad.

●       Provide accurate information on admission requirements and application procedures.

●       Assist students with application documentation and basic form completion.

●       Support senior counsellors with admissions and placement processes.

●       Respond to student enquiries via phone, email, WhatsApp, and in-person meetings.

●       Participate in education fairs, open days, and promotional events.

●       Ensure compliance with company policies and partner institution guidelines.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable education counselor to help international students select the best schools and programs suited to their goals. Your role is to help international students pursue their education dreams abroad by providing personalized service through phone, live chat, email, WhatsApp, and other communication tools.

This is a high-performance, individual contributor role with the primary goal of increasing the number of paid applications from direct students on our platform.

What You’ll Be Doing Every Day

●       Advising Students: Provide tailored advice on suitable schools and programs based on academic history, career goals, and admission probabilities.

●       Application Guidance: Assist students with the application process, including document preparation (transcripts, language tests, resumes, statements of purpose), deadlines, and next steps.

●       Communication: Engage with students via phone, live chat, and email to answer questions and provide continuous support.

●       User Feedback: Identify and report students’ needs and challenges.

●       Additional Services: Educate students on additional services such as loans, GICs, and scholarships.

Requirements

●       Bachelor’s degree or HND in any discipline.

●       NYSC completed or in progress.

●       Little or no prior counselling experience required.

●       Interest in international education and student services.

●       Good communication and interpersonal skills.

●       Basic computer skills and willingness to learn CRM systems.

●       Professional appearance and positive attitude.
