Main objective and tasks
The Security Assistant is a member of the Logistic and security department, reporting to the
Access and Security Officer and support the access and security processes in his/her covered
area.
They will be responsible for the support in implementation of all the INTERSOS mission security
and safety procedures, including the reporting and context analysis and for developing and
maintaining appropriate and effective relationships with different partners.
The post holder will also be responsible for routinely collaborating closely with local authorities on
behalf of INTERSOS for security and access of the team and related administrative issues.
They will provide humanitarian access, security and liaison advice to the Security Officer and
INTERSOS Project Managers on establishing links with partners, negotiating and mediating
humanitarian access, contextual understanding, handling critical incidents, and providing timely
advisories. The post holder will perform the following duties:
1. Access and security
Support Security officer in implementing access and security policies, protocols and
procedures thus reducing the risks posed to the programs, personnel and assets of
INTERSOS.
Establish and maintain an active information network, which includes INSO, NGOs, UN
and other national and international security actors to obtain credible and relevant safety
information. Liaison & co-ordination with Police, Security forces & other stakeholders as
required.
Provide INTERSOS mission in Southwest with timely and credible security information
and support context and situation analysis of the local security situation through daily
incident alerts, weekly incident lists and bi-weekly analytical reports.
Under the guidance of the Security officer, conducts security risk assessments and risk
analysis and advice on security and safety measure and access to areas INTERSOS
operates.
2. Staff safety
Ensures that all INTERSOS staff understand the individual responsibilities and
collective safety and security.
Conduct pre-deployment trainings/briefings to all team members prior to each field
mission. Carry out periodical follow –up security trainings for staff at the field level.
Based on the country Risk management policies, ensure the team is fully equipped for
the mission.
Monitor staff movement and tracking systems while maintaining operational security.
Identify areas of Security Management requiring external support
Provide assistance in the conduct and follow up of investigations and incidents affecting
INTERSOS staffs and offices
Perform any other duties as instructed by his/her supervisor and in line with INTERSOS core
principles
Educational and professional experience required
University degree in a related specialization law, developments and international security or
relevant field is required.
Language and communication
• Fluency in both written and oral formal English
• Good redactional skills
• Fluency in Pidgin English
Technical and

Basic functional Knowledge of
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, outlook),
• Mainstream web browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox)
Analytical and reporting skills

Capacity to work under pressure, flexibility
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Languages Fluency in both written and oral formal English
