Job Summary:
The Environmental Engineer will oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of environmental strategies and policies at our mining sites. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with environmental laws, conduct impact assessments, and lead initiatives to minimize the environmental footprint of the company’s operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement environmental management plans to meet regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and risk analyses for ongoing and future projects.
- Monitor and manage the environmental effects of mining activities, including water, air, and soil quality.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Develop programs to rehabilitate disturbed areas and restore natural habitats post-mining.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate sustainable practices into mining operations.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for environmental audits and inspections.
- Provide training and awareness sessions to staff on environmental issues and best practices.
- Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements in environmental engineering and mining.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of proven experience as an Environmental Engineer, preferably in the mining sector.
- Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and standards related to mining operations.
- Proficiency in environmental impact assessment and management tools.
- Experience with GIS and other data analysis tools is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects effectively.
