Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for legal activities in Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, DRC, Congo, Chad, Central African Republic.
Proactive business partner for local management and flagging risks with a commercial and pragmatic approach towards problem prevention and solving.
Responsible for handling and overseeing of litigations, contracts, and corporate secretarial work.
Assisting in recovery of debts owed to the company.
Managing of corporate governance, statutory compliance and licensing.
Managing legal risks and ensure that the company's operations comply with local and international laws.
Responsible for engagement and managing of external legal counsel, including legal budget.
Supporting debt collection team with litigation for outstanding claims.
Advising on various engagements (written or oral) with authorities.
Supporting other internal stakeholders on legal matters such as Human Resources, HSSE and Procurement, Compliance, AR, Operations and Top Management.
Who are we looking for?

Master’s degree in law from a recognized institution. Experience in shipping law and/or logistics and mergers and acquisitions will be an advantage. Good understanding of compliance laws and policies.
Must be able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
A minimum 5 years’ experience as in-house counsel in a multi-national company or in private practice at a reputable firm (or both).
Speaks and write English and French clearly.
