ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
WFP Cameroon is part of the Country Offices in the Regional Bureau for Central and West Africa (RBD) facing multiple humanitarian crises that simultaneously aggravate existing socio-economic vulnerabilities in the country. The fragile security situation in the Northern part of the Country, a protracted refugee operation in the East and crises in the Northwest and Southwest regions has left millions of people vulnerable to food insecurity. WFP provides a key emergency response component of the Humanitarian Response Plan through regular food and sustainable development assistance to part of the food insecure and vulnerable people in the country. With the launch of the second-generation strategic plan, it is imperative to obtain the optimum capacity of staff, partners and beneficiaries given the precarious humanitarian situation and importance of delivering efficient and quick support. This role further described below, will contribute to the World Food Programme's mission in Cameroon to Saving Lives, Changing Lives.

JOB PURPOSE
Under the leadership of the Head of Unit, the selected candidate will be responsible for the implementation of the WFP Gender Strategy and the Protection Strategy in support of WFP Operations in Cameroon.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Experience:

At least one (1) year or more of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field of work, preferably in Gender & Protection, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development.
Language:

Fluency (level C) in English or French language (written and oral).
Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: English/French. (Other WFP working language) would be an asset.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Contribute towards the implementation of the WFP Cameroon Gender Strategy to mainstream gender into WFP Operations.
Support the implementation of the WFP Protection Strategy to strengthen WFP’s protection mainstreaming activities.
Coordinate the development of the Accountability to Affected Populations Strategy.
Support the capacity development and trainings on protection mainstreaming, PSEA, GBV mitigation, disability, and inclusion initiatives, coordinating and providing leadership to the focal points/gender for WFP, Partner staff.
Support research and analysis of strategic and operational issues to support the development of workplans and activities on cross-cutting areas.
Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports on programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
Liaise with internal/external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration and monitoring of ongoing projects.
Coordinate the completion of the Disability and Inclusion Strategy.
Support the implementation of MoUs/LoUs to implement cross-cutting issues.
Provide support to coordinate capacity strengthening for staff and partners on the cross-cutting areas.
Support the documentation of some of the best practices/lessons learnt on cross-cutting areas.
Assist with any other duties.

Transfer Modalities (Food, Cash, Voucher)    Demonstrates ability to analyse and consolidate quantitative and qualitative information from different sources (e.g., market studies) to inform transfer modality selection and programme development.
Broad Knowledge of Specialized areas (i.e. Nutrition, VAM, etc.)    Demonstrates the ability to interpret basic data in the context of WFP specialised fields to contribute to technical programme design, implementation and monitoring.
Emergency Programming    Displays capacity to provide inputs into the development, implementation and realignment of high quality emergency programmes.
Strategic Policy Engagement w/ Government    Develops thorough recommendations using multiple inputs (e.g., government counsel, research, own experience) to strengthen national or subnational entities and government owned food and nutrition security programmes.
