JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Shwari Health Cameroon is a locally registered organization with a vision to ensure the provision of quality, effective and innovative evidence-based solutions to address health systems challenges within the health sector in Cameroon and beyond with a special focus to children and adolescents. To achieve this, Shwari Health Cameroon uses proven community strategies to identify HIV infected children and adolescents, refer them to health facilities for initiation on treatment, support and accompany them through treatment to ensure they remain in care and achieve viral suppression. Our mission is to be one of the most sought-after implementations science associations in Cameroon that uses evidence-based strategies to effectively cover the ‘Know-Do’ gaps in the provision of health services. We aim to achieve this through the application of modern evidence generation and synthesis methods to understand operational contexts so as to devise strategies that could make the implementation efforts more effective and efficient. SHWARI Health Association, in partnership with Georgetown University's Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI), the Government of the Republic of Cameroon's Regional Technical Groups (RTGs), will be implementing a project titled SAFECARE-Cameroon, which is a 5-year CDC/PEPFAR-Funded project. SAFECARE-Cameroon’s goal is to develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive facility and community-based HIV services for children, adolescents, and adults in Cameroon in PEPFAR supported regions of the country and support the country to fast track its progress to achieve HIV epidemic control. As a result, SHWARI Health Association Cameroon (SHAC) is recruiting for the following program implementation positions. All prospective candidates must be fluent in French and working knowledge of English. These positions will be based in Yaoundé or Bertoua.

SHAC Office Positions

Position:        Regional Program Team Lead, SAFECARE Project -Cameroon
Reports to:        Project Director
Location of work:    Bertoua, Cameroon

Position Overview:    This purpose of this position is to provide technical support for healthcare workers at the facility, district and regional levels to improve quality of HIV care, treatment and related services across the care continuum.  In addition, the position holder will manage a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals/mentors to ensure team-based and collaborative care approach in improving site capacity. Further, the Team Leader will be accountable for meeting all program targets in the assigned region.


Essential Functions
•    Leads regional teams and ensures the program remains on track on all key indicators
•    Train and mentor health care workers at levels of the healthcare system
•    Ensure collaboration and technical support for MOH regional health delegate and team within the districts for effective oversight and ownership of all program activities
•    Support site clinical staff in providing clinical care to HIV positive patients with complex problems
•    Assists the Integrated Service Delivery Improvement specialist in the supervision, mentorship and support to GU clinical mentors and community specialists in providing clinical care to HIV positive patients with complex problems
•    Participate in Ministry of Health technical working groups as related to expertise nationally and within the assigned region
•    Promote and ensure use of program data and evidence to inform service delivery improvement in real time
•    Lead development of site-specific remediation plans and lead those interventions to improve clinical systems, care standards and processes including ensuring community-facility linkages
•    Take up PMTCT as a special focus and support the provision of quality PMTCT services within health facilities
•    Directly mentor clinical mentors as well as health care workers at facility and regional level on PMTCT
•    Participate in MoH Technical working groups on HIV prevention, care and treatment as required Institutionalize CQI at facility level and continuously review local challenges and assist sites with problem-solving that addresses clinic and patient needs
•    Participate in advanced training programs including: recognizing and managing drug side effects and resistance, identifying and managing opportunistic infections, PMTCT, TB management and prophylaxis, pediatric HIV and other training relevant to TIDE program as needed
Work with site and district teams to institutionalize use of data and information to improve clinical decisions
•    Submit program reports as required

Qualifications and Experience
•    MD or MBChB, preferably with additional specialist training
•    At least 5-7 years of demonstrable clinical experience in the field of HIV care and treatment
•    Must have prior experience in capacity building, such as planning/facilitating trainings and providing technical assistance
•    Familiarity with adult learning principles/techniques and demonstrated ability to design and facilitate learning opportunities for adults
•    Registration with health professional regulatory authority.
•    Must be fluent in French and working knowledge of English
•    Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in working with diverse groups of people and handling confidential information.
•    Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages.
•    Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
